PHYS 1040

ePortfolio Assignment #1
I chose to teach my mom and dad. I thought it was difficult to teach them at first but, it was really simple to teach them, and I was able to find some stars with them that I've never really seen. I was able to show my parents were the stars were, and they were able to find them quickly. We also used some binoculars so it was easier to see the color of the stars.
Looking at the stars was mainly a review, but like I said before, I was able to find a few new stars and 1-2 new constellations I didn't notice before. I was also able to see the different colors the stars were giving off. But, this was mainly a review of the stars.
A lot of things turned out well, there was not much, or no trouble at all looking at the stars, and teaching. It was a very simple and fun assignment to work on, and my parents and I got a lot out of assignment.
I thought this assignment was very fun to do. It was kind of difficult to see the stars since we were looking for stars within our neighborhood, but we were able to find at least 3 constellations and 5-6 stars. It wasn't too difficult to teach my parents, as I had stated before. Both my parents had learned a lot out of this assignment, as did I.
Assignment #2
I think that knowing Astronomy is important, but I don't think it's so important you need to dedicate your life to it. Knowing some key informations about Astronomy is just fine, plus, you can show off to all your friends.
Astronomy should taught to children in Elementry school, because I would think that they would enjoy learning about this subject. All they would learn is the basics, they don't need to be taught an entire course about it.
If I were to have a friend ask me about taking Astronomy, I would tell them to take it. It's a fun class and you get to learn about planets, stars, constellations, etc. Then they will be able to teach others about Astronomy, advertising how much fun Astronomy can be.
